A global industrial-systems company offering variable-frequency drives, motors, generators, photovoltaic and BESS inverters and advanced automation is looking for an Application Engineer to prepare timely, accurate technical specifications supporting large electric motor and drive-system proposals and orders, and to build a network of technical-evaluator relationships with clients and vendors that feeds a pipeline of business in the designated markets.
Office location Bari, Italy.
What you'll do
- Prepare technical specifications for fixed- and adjustable-speed motors and AC/DC drive systems to meet clients' RFQ requirements, and communicate them clearly to clients and internal engineering
- Evaluate supplier proposals for the best technical and most economical solution, and support system-integration activities such as e-houses, external transformers, PLCs and instrumentation
- Prepare detailed cost elements at quotation stage, provide technical guidance through to the final commercial proposal, and lead technical and commercial proposal development for small projects
- Support system-integration documentation during execution, design competitive technical approaches to client issues, and prepare component specifications
- Prepare and deliver presentations at technical conferences and client meetings, and review brochures for technical accuracy
- Identify new products and applications, monitor industry trends, and track the competitive environment to provide comparative analyses to commercial and R&D teams
What you'll bring
- A BSc in electrical, mechanical or automation engineering, or equivalent through education and/or experience
- 2 years' systems or application engineering experience in medium-voltage drives and motor systems
- Demonstrated success as a contributing member of project teams, with positive leadership, interpersonal, organisational, administrative and communication skills
- Successful working relationships with clients, suppliers and internal and external contacts
- Innovative problem-solving and presentation skills, and proficiency in MS Excel
