An established high-power semiconductor manufacturer with over 60 years of heritage, a leading independent supplier of IGBT, bipolar, power-assembly and EV-system products whose devices enhance the reliability and efficiency of electrical energy control in power transmission, railway transportation, marine propulsion, fusion power, electric vehicles, renewable generation and industrial motor drives, is looking for a Bipolar Device Design Engineer to join its growing New Product Introduction group during a significant period of growth.
Based in Lincoln, UK. You will work with high-power semiconductor products for expanding global markets such as pulsed power and renewable-energy generation, developing core skills in bipolar device design, wafer fabrication, packaging, testing and reliability assessment to become a key long-term asset. Full training is provided as required.
What you'll do
- Chip design using semiconductor finite-element simulation, and device thermal, mechanical and electromechanical finite-element simulation
- Diffusion process design and development with hands-on involvement, and process design for new products using the manufacturing system
- 3D CAD drawing and photomask design with commercial software for chip development projects
- Electrical testing, evaluation and reliability assessment of products
- Writing and presenting technical papers and reports, with strong technical input on projects
- Build effective working relationships across departments, and interact with customers, suppliers, research institutions and project management, presenting complex information to technical and non-technical colleagues
What you'll bring
- Semiconductor device physics and finite-element simulation
- 3D CAD and silicon wafer fabrication and manufacturing
- Bipolar device operation and applications, and proficient use of Microsoft Office
- Self-motivation, hard work and a commitment to the highest standards, with high-quality technical report writing
