An established high-power semiconductor manufacturer with decades of experience in IGBT modules, power assemblies, bipolar devices and traction-grade power semiconductors, proven in rail traction, metro, light rail and heavy transportation, is looking for a Business Development Manager to drive new traction business across the DACH region as rail electrification and urban-mobility investment accelerate.
Home office in Germany with regular travel across Germany, Austria and Switzerland. A senior, field-based, hunter-style role: opening and developing OEM and system-integrator accounts, securing long-term design-in and platform wins, and positioning the company as a trusted power-semiconductor partner in traction programmes, from system architecture and specification through qualification, tender and series production.
What you'll do
- Develop and execute a DACH-wide business-development strategy for rail, metro and traction customers
- Identify and pursue new opportunities with rail OEMs, traction system integrators and key Tier 1 suppliers
- Drive design-in activity for traction inverters, auxiliary converters, onboard power supplies and DC traction systems
- Build strong relationships across engineering, system design, procurement, programme management and senior decision-makers, supporting customers through long development cycles, tenders and framework agreements
- Lead technical-commercial discussions with applications engineering and product teams, and manage pricing strategy, negotiations and commercial agreements
- Maintain accurate opportunity tracking and long-range forecasts, represent the company at customer reviews and industry events, and feed back on competitor activity and future platform developments
What you'll bring
- A commercially strong and technically credible profile with a deep understanding of traction power electronics
- Experience of the dynamics of long-cycle, tender-driven transportation projects
- Fluent German and English, and willingness to travel regularly across the DACH region
