Business Development Manager – Traction – West & Southern Europe

An established high-power semiconductor manufacturer with decades of heritage in IGBT modules, power assemblies and traction-grade power semiconductors, proven in rail traction, metro, light rail and heavy transportation, is looking for a Business Development Manager to drive new traction business across West and Southern Europe as governments invest in rail electrification and urban mobility.

Home-based, flexible across France, Italy or Spain, with regular travel across the region. A senior, field-based, hunter-style role: opening OEM and system-integrator accounts, securing long-term design-in and platform wins, and establishing the company as a preferred power-semiconductor partner for traction programmes, from system architecture and specification through qualification, tender and series production.

What you'll do

  • Develop and execute a regional business-development strategy for traction and transportation customers across West and Southern Europe
  • Identify and pursue new opportunities with rail OEMs, traction system integrators and Tier 1 suppliers
  • Drive design-in activity for traction inverters, auxiliary converters, onboard power supplies and DC traction systems
  • Build strong relationships across engineering, system design, procurement, programme management and senior stakeholders, supporting customers through long development cycles, tenders and framework agreements
  • Lead technical-commercial discussions with applications engineering and product management, and manage pricing strategy, negotiations and commercial agreements
  • Maintain accurate pipeline and long-range forecasting, represent the company at customer reviews and industry events, and feed back on market trends and future platform requirements

What you'll bring

  • Proven business development, technical sales or key account management in rail, traction or transportation power electronics
  • A strong understanding of traction and transportation systems: traction inverters, auxiliary power converters, DC traction systems, high-power IGBT modules or power assemblies
  • Experience with rail OEMs, system integrators or Tier 1 traction suppliers in Europe
  • Comfort managing complex, long-term, tender-driven and project-based sales cycles, with strong negotiation and stakeholder skills
  • Fluent English is essential; French, Italian or Spanish highly advantageous
  • Willingness to travel regularly across West and Southern Europe
