A global industrial-systems company offering variable-frequency drives, motors, generators, flywheels, photovoltaic and BESS inverters and advanced automation for industrial and energy applications is looking for a Business Development Specialist for Hydrogen to develop the business cases for hydrogen markets and applications that deliver its mid-range plan objectives: identifying opportunities, forming strategic partnerships and supporting sales to drive growth in the hydrogen sector.

Based in Ratingen, near Düsseldorf, Germany, with domestic and international travel up to 40%, sometimes at limited notice.

What you'll do

  • Assess the business units' capabilities, products, services and technologies against competitors, and determine the wants, needs and trends of hydrogen industries and market segments, monitoring macro-economic factors
  • Ensure new products and upgrades meet client needs, develop and execute go-to-market strategy with Marketing, and identify new areas of potential business
  • Develop business cases for entry into hydrogen markets and industries in collaboration with business-unit personnel
  • Build relationships with a network of purchase influencers across current and potential industries, and provide input to brand strategy for hydrogen markets
  • Drive internal and external awareness of the business units' objectives through public relations, advertising, collateral, technical articles and trade shows with Global Marketing
  • Develop internal and group relationships to secure resources for strategy implementation, and report research, analysis, evaluation and recommendations to company and group management

What you'll bring

  • A bachelor's degree in Business, Engineering or equivalent through education and/or experience; a degree in chemical, electrical, mechanical or industrial engineering and an MBA a plus
  • 5+ years in a direct client-facing position in hydrogen or related industries, with demonstrated business-development success in a complex environment
  • Proven ability to work across functional teams, with successful relationships across clients, suppliers and internal and external contacts, and positive leadership, interpersonal, organisational, administrative and communication skills
  • Demonstrated continuous improvement, and proficiency in Word, Excel, a CRM tool and an ERP system
  • An understanding of energy economics and regulation, success in vendor pre-qualifications, and product-marketing and brand-management experience, preferred
