An established global leader in the design and manufacture of high-power semiconductor devices and assemblies, serving power transmission and distribution, railway traction, electric vehicles, renewable energy and industrial control, and positioned for continued growth through strong international backing, is looking for an accomplished Engineering Manager to oversee the design, development and delivery of power-electronic converter products.

Based in Lincoln, UK. A leadership position managing cross-functional engineering teams (power electronics, software, CAD and test), running multiple concurrent projects to cost, quality and schedule, and acting as the primary technical interface with customers and stakeholders.

What you'll do

  • Lead and mentor a multidisciplinary engineering team
  • Oversee the full lifecycle of power-electronics products for renewable and industrial markets
  • Manage project plans, budgets, risk registers and resource allocation
  • Interface directly with customers to define requirements and drive technical solutions
  • Champion quality assurance and compliance with industry standards, and establish formal processes for design reviews, documentation and validation
  • Promote continuous improvement and innovation, and collaborate with manufacturing, procurement and commercial teams for seamless transition to production

What you'll bring

  • Proven experience designing power-electronic converters (DC-DC, AC-DC, DC-AC), with a solid foundation in power semiconductor devices, control theory and converter topologies
  • Strong project and team management, with proficiency in project-management tools such as MS Project
  • Hands-on experience with design, simulation and analysis tools such as MATLAB/Simulink, PLECS or LTspice, and familiarity with EMC, safety compliance and thermal/mechanical integration
  • Experience in customer-facing roles delivering tailored engineering solutions; industry experience in renewable energy, rail, automotive or industrial power highly desirable
  • A bachelor's degree in Electrical/Electronic Engineering (essential); master's or PhD in power electronics, Chartered Engineer status and IET/IEEE membership desirable
  • Inspirational leadership, excellent organisation, strong communication, attention to detail and a collaborative, customer-centric approach
