A leading global semiconductor company whose automotive processors and companion devices lead the industry is looking for a Field Application Engineer for automotive software, responsible for customer technical support on ongoing and upcoming projects. With direct customer contact, excellent communication is a must-have.
Based in Munich, Germany, with remote and on-site support at customer locations.
What you'll do
- Lead technical design-in: conduct technical meetings with customers to promote new products and address issues, aligned to the customer's way of working, and deliver roadmaps, features and value propositions
- Track projects, anticipate customer requests, and identify and communicate current and future customer needs and technical requirements
- Drive development and quality teams to fulfil customer requirements, and provide technical support across the product lifecycle from promotion to end of production
- Test, debug, deliver, guide and document software deliverables: device drivers and libraries in bootloader, hypervisor, QNX, Linux and Android, mostly in C
- Work closely with other hardware and software FAEs, marketing and engineering teams worldwide to resolve customer issues
- Train sales and marketing colleagues on product, technology, process, packaging and systems
What you'll bring
- A master's degree or equivalent in electronics, physics or a related area
- 5 to 10 years of technical experience in semiconductors, ideally in SoC software development or SoC customer support
- Experience in embedded systems, C, radio technology, ultra-wideband, and device drivers or middleware in Linux/Android; bootloader, Linux kernel, Yocto, C++, Python, Java, Agile, DevOps and CI/CD a strong plus
- A self-starter able to work with minimum supervision: assertive, determined, flexible and creative, with strong customer orientation
- Persuasive, professional presentation and negotiation skills at all levels, and the ability to work in a multicultural environment
- Very good written and spoken English (other languages a plus); automotive semiconductor experience a strong plus
