A field applications role for a semiconductor manufacturer, working as the technical partner to customers across industrial automation, energy, power systems and related markets. The work runs from first evaluation through design-in to production ramp-up.

The role

  • Leading the technical engagement through the customer's project life cycle: product selection, evaluation, design review, debugging, application validation and ramp-up.
  • Understanding customers' system architectures and turning their requirements into practical semiconductor solutions.
  • Troubleshooting hardware and application problems at component and system level, and finding the root cause with the customer.
  • Working alongside sales, product management and R&D to turn technical engagement into design wins.
  • Feeding market intelligence and application insight back into product planning.
  • Writing application notes and reference material, and running technical training for customers, channel partners and internal teams.
  • Running several customer projects at once, with on-site support where it is needed.

What is needed

  • A degree in electrical or electronic engineering, microelectronics, automation or a related discipline.
  • Solid analog and digital circuit knowledge, and hands-on hardware debugging or applications experience.
  • Comfort with the usual development and test equipment, oscilloscopes and debugging tools among them.
  • The ability to explain a technical recommendation clearly to a customer and to an internal team.
  • Willingness to travel and to support customers on site.

Experience in industrial control, power supplies, renewable energy and storage, motor drives or power electronics is an advantage, as is experience of analog ICs, isolation products, power management ICs or sensors.
