A global industrial-systems company offering variable-frequency drives, motors, generators, photovoltaic and BESS inverters and advanced automation is looking for a Field Engineer for Drives and Control Systems to provide technical advisory services coordinating installation and commissioning on assigned projects, to schedule and performance criteria, with a worldwide territory.
Office location Bari, Italy, with travel within and outside Europe more than 75% of the time, sometimes at limited notice.
What you'll do
- Assess project requirements for the assigned scope, and commission AC and DC drive systems and/or control software to design performance criteria
- Tune closed-loop regulators for optimal equipment performance, and design, configure and test system software and hardware to contractual requirements when assigned
- Troubleshoot and correct process-application problems in complex control systems, and lead the process component of client witness acceptance tests
- Provide regular, accurate commissioning status reports, and recommend improvements to commissioning procedures, software and hardware
- Maintain current safety qualifications and adhere to company and client safety requirements
- Coach associates in areas of expertise, train client personnel on system maintenance and operation, and plan and execute special projects of up to nine months when assigned
What you'll bring
- A high-school diploma in electro-technical subjects; a bachelor's degree in electrical or mechanical engineering or related, preferred
- 2 years' experience with process and automation controls, and 2 years' field engineering or experience in the metals, container-port, paper, oil and gas or general industries
- Demonstrated leadership, interpersonal, organisational, administrative and communication skills, with successful working relationships across clients, suppliers and internal and external contacts
- Proficiency in MS Excel and Word; experience with international clients and field-service personnel, and international field engineering, preferred
- Availability to travel more than 75% of the time, the ability to live and work within the EU, and fluent English
