A global leader in power electronics and energy-efficient systems is looking for a Firmware R&D Engineer to design, implement, test and certify embedded firmware for real-time industrial communications. The business spans industrial and building automation, telecom and data-centre power, EV charging, renewable energy and energy storage.

Based in Helmond, Netherlands.

What you'll do

  • Design, implement, test and certify embedded firmware enabling real-time industrial communications across leading fieldbus and Industrial Ethernet protocols: EtherCAT, PROFINET and OPC UA FX (including TSN profiles)
  • Develop and maintain software for embedded systems, ensuring seamless integration with industrial fieldbus protocols
  • Collaborate with hardware engineers to optimise system performance and reliability
  • Take part in code reviews to uphold high software-development standards
  • Work with cross-functional teams to ensure compliance with protocol specifications, performance requirements and functional-safety standards
  • Develop unit tests and create development and debug tools

What you'll bring

  • A master's degree in Computer Science, Electrical, Mechanical Engineering or a related discipline
  • At least 2 years of C/C++ programming and 2 years with MCUs or embedded systems, including GPIO and serial and parallel communication
  • Knowledge of FreeRTOS and RT-Linux, essential
  • A drive to innovate and solve complex technical problems, with good spoken and written English
  • Experience with version control (Git, Mercurial) and an industrial automation or control background, a plus
