Mechanical Design Engineer, EV Power Electronics

GermanyRef 234

A growing automotive power electronics manufacturer

A mechanical design role with an automotive power electronics manufacturer building inverters and power modules for electric vehicles. It is the first mechanical position in the company's German engineering team, working closely with an established mechanical team in Asia.

The role

  • Leading the mechanical structure design of power electronic products for electric vehicles, from concept to mass production.
  • Turning customer requirements into detailed mechanical concepts and technical solutions.
  • Designing die-cast, injection-moulded, stamped and sealed parts, with the 3D models, 2D drawings and specifications behind them.
  • Keeping design documentation current and supporting component certification in the off-tool sample phase.
  • Taking part in verification and validation, and resolving the technical issues it finds.
  • Supporting manufacturing so that designs stay intact and producible.

What is needed

  • A bachelor's degree or above in mechanical engineering, materials science or a related field.
  • Four or more years designing and developing automotive electronic products, and a solid grasp of automotive component development.
  • Strong knowledge of die casting, injection moulding, stamping, connectors, sealing and fastening.
  • PRO/E (Creo) or a similar 3D CAD tool.
  • Fluent English. Mandarin is strongly preferred, because the role works directly with the team in Asia.

The role is office-based and needs an existing right to work in Germany: EU citizens, or holders of an EU Blue Card.
