An established high-power semiconductor manufacturer with over 60 years of heritage, a leading independent supplier of IGBT, bipolar, power-assembly and EV-system products for industrial and transportation markets worldwide, is looking for an enthusiastic and skilled Power Module Applications Engineer to join its Product Group, providing technical application support across its bipolar and IGBT ranges. These products serve industrial motor drives, automotive, renewable energy, HVDC, power generation and storage, and rail traction.
Based in Lincoln, UK. The role offers technical expertise to customers from initial enquiry and solution proposal through to troubleshooting during testing and application, and contributes to product development, customer validation and the wider promotion of the company's power semiconductor technologies.
What you'll do
- Deliver application and field support for power semiconductor products across multiple sectors
- Perform circuit-level simulation, characterisation and evaluation of modules using PLECS and SPICE, and develop and maintain compatible numerical models for evaluation, enhancement and proposals
- Monitor market demands, specifications and emerging trends, and benchmark state-of-the-art devices through datasheet interpretation, simulation and experimental testing
- Build and evaluate customer-oriented application circuits, supporting prototype validation to international standards
- Support sales with product promotion and provide technical input to product development
- Produce high-quality technical documentation (test reports, application notes, datasheets), deliver reports and presentations, and contribute to peer-reviewed publications and conference proceedings
What you'll bring
- A bachelor's degree or above in microelectronics, solid-state electronics, materials engineering, power electronics, physics or a closely related discipline
- Strong knowledge of power semiconductor devices (IGBTs, MOSFETs, diodes) and of power-electronic circuit topologies (buck, boost, buck-boost, inverters)
- Hands-on experience in power-system design, converter principles, simulation and testing, with a proven record of hardware development in at least one of industrial motor drives, automotive, rail traction, HVDC or renewable energy
- Professional-level proficiency with PLECS and SPICE; MATLAB/Simulink, Altium and LabVIEW an advantage
- An effective communicator and collaborator, confident presenting to technical and non-technical audiences, able to work independently and in a team with excellent time management
