A principal-level RFIC design role in the wireless IP design group of a global semiconductor company, designing the key RF blocks for its Bluetooth, Wi-Fi, UWB and other wireless products with a cross-functional global team.
The role
- Designing RFIC blocks and modules: RF synthesiser, VCO, LO generation, transmit and receive chains (LNA, mixer, PA, PA driver), baseband and biasing.
- Owning schematic design and simulation against performance, area and power targets.
- Supervising and reviewing layout: floor planning, device matching, routing, shielding and ESD.
- Turning top-level radio and product requirements into block-level budgets and circuit specifications.
- Leading lab bring-up, bench measurement, correlation to simulation and root-cause analysis of silicon issues.
- Working with the foundry technology team on PDKs, device models and reliability constraints.
What is needed
- A PhD in electrical engineering with five or more years in RF/analogue CMOS IC design, or an MSc with seven and a half or more.
- RF transmit and receive chain design and/or RF PLL and synthesiser design, with extensive product-level tape-out experience.
- Deep understanding of CMOS transistor and inductor physics, and of layout and packaging effects on circuit performance.
- Hands-on IC test and debug with RF lab equipment.
- Cadence Virtuoso, Spectre/SpectreRF, and PeakView or similar EM tools.
Up to a quarter of the time may be spent travelling.
