Product Manager, High Voltage Drives

Stuttgart area, GermanyRef 252

A global industrial automation and drive systems manufacturer building its European product organisation

We are recruiting a product manager for high voltage drives at a global industrial automation and drive systems manufacturer. The business is growing its presence in Europe and North America, and this role owns what the product range becomes in those markets rather than inheriting a roadmap written elsewhere.

It sits between the customer and the engineering organisation: reading where the market is going, deciding what is worth building, and carrying it through to launch.

What you would do

  • Own the product vision, strategy and roadmap for high voltage drives across Europe and North America.
  • Read the industry: customer applications, competing products, where the technology is heading, and where there is room to be different.
  • Benchmark competing drives on architecture, specification, performance, reliability and total cost of ownership.
  • Turn what customers and the market tell you into product specifications and development priorities engineering can work from.
  • Drive development from concept and architecture through prototyping, validation and commercialisation.
  • Lead new product introduction: positioning, value proposition, pricing and the go to market plan with regional sales and marketing.
  • Act as the interface between the regional markets and global product development, and keep the priorities aligned across both.

What you would bring

  • A degree in electrical engineering, power electronics, automation or a related technical subject.
  • Substantial experience with high voltage or medium voltage variable frequency drives, industrial power electronics or closely related industrial automation products.
  • A background in product management, product development, application engineering, technical marketing or a technical and commercial leadership role.
  • A record of turning customer and market requirements into specifications that were actually built and sold.
  • Experience across international markets, ideally Europe and North America.
  • Professional English, and willingness to travel internationally.

The practicalities

  • Based at the European research and development centre in the Stuttgart area.
  • Permanent.
  • International travel as the role requires.
