R&D Engineer – Nitinol Tube Drawing

Part of a global technology group, a specialist in the development and manufacture of advanced components, assemblies and materials for the medical-device industry is looking for an experienced R&D Engineer to lead the development and optimisation of Nitinol tube-drawing processes for advanced medical-device applications. Combining deep materials expertise with precision engineering, the company supports global medical OEMs with innovative, reliable, life-improving products.

Based on-site in the Frankfurt Rhine-Main area, Germany. A critical role in driving process innovation, ensuring product quality and advancing the company's Nitinol manufacturing capabilities.

What you'll do

• Develop, optimise and validate Nitinol tube-drawing and processing technologies
• Design experiments and establish process parameters to achieve required material and dimensional properties
• Support new product introduction and the scale-up of R&D processes to manufacturing
• Collaborate closely with Process Engineering, Quality, Production and Product Development
• Drive root-cause analysis and continuous improvement in process capability, yield and performance, and evaluate new machinery, tooling and process-control systems
• Document results, prepare technical reports, contribute to intellectual property, and ensure compliance with medical-device regulations (ISO 13485, FDA)

What you'll bring

• A master's degree or higher in Materials Science, Mechanical Engineering, Process Engineering or a related field
• At least 10 years in process and technology development, ideally in a regulated industry such as medical devices, aerospace or precision metals
• Deep expertise in Nitinol processing, particularly tube drawing, forming and heat treatment
• Hands-on experience with metal-forming machinery, drawing benches and surface-finishing processes
• Strong analytical and problem-solving skills with a structured, data-driven approach
• Fluent English; German an advantage
