Light electric vehicles are quietly becoming a proper power electronics market. Forty amps continuous with a dedicated BMS signal circuit in one housing is a design that assumes a real battery management architecture behind it, which is a long way from where e-bikes started.
The hiring pattern follows: firms in this segment increasingly want people from automotive power rather than from consumer electronics, because the questions are automotive ones — thermal derating, connector ageing, functional safety on the battery side. It is also one of the few places where an experienced automotive engineer can take a bigger scope than their current employer would offer them.

This is one of the markets we recruit in every day. Electrification has pulled power electronics and automotive into the same hiring market, and the people who can work across both are scarce. Traction inverters, on-board chargers and battery management sit exactly on that seam.
