Field plate design is the sort of work that separates a GaN device team from a GaN device supplier. It is deep physics, it decides breakdown voltage and long-term reliability, and it cannot be learned quickly on the job.

Europe has a genuine shortage here. When a client asks for a GaN device engineer with real field plate and reliability experience, the honest answer is usually that there are perhaps fifteen credible people and most are working for the competitor they want to hire from.
