The hiring consequence is that space power teams are competing for GaN device and layout engineers against the terrestrial power market, and losing on money. The people worth approaching are device physicists and layout engineers inside commercial power semiconductor firms who have never touched radiation effects. Radiation is learnable in a way that GaN device design is not, and most space primes still recruit as though the opposite were true.
